Coaching Speciality: Founded and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Viaticus, Inc., the nations leading re-purchaser of life insurance policies. Viaticus is a wholly owned subsidiary of the CNA Financial Corporation, parent of the CNA Insurance Companies. As Chairman and CEO, I provided the company's strategic leadership in areas ranging from global marketing and new product creation to legislative relations, financial management and human capital development while creating a portfolio in excess of a billion dollars in three years. As a corporate leader, I have been called to testify before Congress on insurance industry issues and my comments have also been featured in media such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, as well as on a significant number of radio and television news shows such as 60 Minutes. In 1999 I was inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, which recognizes innovators and leaders. I designed and led a successful lobbying effort to install insurance related industry regulation in 30 states and testified in front of a full hearing of the House Ways and Means Committee that resulted in a change in tax laws incorporated into the 1996 HIPPA Act. I have worked as a mentor in the Menttium 100 program for twenty years mentoring highly credentialed, high performing executives. I earned my Chartered Accountant Qualification in London, England. I have been involved in a variety of community and charitable activities, including the AGBU and Cradle Adoption Society. I also established the Yvonne Banks Caring Teacher Award for Excellence in Primary School Education at the Lake Forest Country Day School, Illinois and the AGBU Yvonne Banks Community Service Award. I am married with two adult children. I am a French speaker, and have facility in Excel and Word and my interests include international travel, golf, skiing and sailing.

Story: I grew up in London, UK in the home of a brilliant father who did business all over the world. I was able to see his natural executive presence up close. Our home was always full of foreign business people. I was able to observe that the Americans were totally different....cheerful, kind to children, happy; by the time I was twelve I had decided to come to the land of the optimistic people! Early in my career I learned from my Father how to assemble, lead and manage high performing teams. I was so fortunate to receive the relevant mentoring and coaching from my Father which impacted my life values so much, that today my innate motivation is to share those experiences with others.

Coaching Approach: I am a generalist. It is all about what the client wants, needs and what her/his goals are. I believe a coach should be a mentor, teacher, guide, servant, listener.

Business Background: I was trained as a Chartered Accountant in London and transferred to the Chicago Office of what is now PricewaterhouseCoopers. Accountants see up close the operations of hundreds of companies. I then started a construction company with an SBA Loan specializing in parks and golf courses for the City of Chicago and the five counties that comprise Chicagoland. When my wife died in 1991 I sold it to my business partner and took some time away with my children. In 1994 I created an industry buying life and key man insurance policies from retiring executives.
